About the NSPCC Peterborough Business Support Group
The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children was founded in 1884 and its vision is to end cruelty to children. It does this by listening to children, fighting for their rights, helping them when they need it and making them safe. It has service centres across the UK to help children and families affected by providing support and guidance. It also provides the vital ChildLine service, founded in 1986 by Esther Rantzen and her team. This work is financed by a committed and caring community of people who give their money and time to the NSPCC.
The NSPCC PBSG was formed in September 1996 with the intention of raising £30,000 a year to support young people in the Peterborough Area.
We have normally succeeded in achieving this total apart from 2020/21 during COVID shutdown, and have raised over £65,000 in a couple of years.
Over the 27 and ½ years we have been together we have raised over £1.2 million for the charity
The group consists of 12 active members plus 2 members who are on sabbatical
Members come from Accountancy and Legal Practices, plus A Recruitment Practice, A Restaurant Owner, Hotel Event Organiser, An Event Organiser, A Non-Exec Director (A retired accountant) and a retired Director of An Office Furniture, Equipment and Stationery.
